The vetting bar

AnovaCloud-vetted means something.

Anyone can claim "vetted engineers." Here's our bar, in public, so both sides of the marketplace know exactly what the label costs: screening, a deep technical interview with a practicing architect, a paid trial engagement on real work, and ratings that never stop.

04 stages to clear — screen, interview, paid trial, continuous rating
Paid trial engagements — real scoped work, compensated. Never free labor.

The four stages

The bar, stage by stage.

Every expert — engineer or architect — clears the same four stages in the same order. No exceptions, no fast lanes.

01 — Screen

Profile screening

A human reads your profile, your intro, and your work history — looking for evidence of shipped production systems, not keyword density.

  • What we look for: production systems shipped, tradeoffs owned, depth in a domain
  • What disqualifies fast: fabricated titles, unverifiable claims, mass-applied templates
  • Outcome: a screening conversation about fit, availability, and engagement types
02 — Interview

Deep technical interview

A working session with a practicing architect — architecture discussion and live problem-solving in your domain, not trivia.

  • System design in your domain: data pipelines, cloud architecture, agent workflows, migration plans
  • Tradeoff reasoning: why this approach, what breaks, what you'd do differently
  • Communication: can you explain the system to the people who'll run it?
03 — Trial

Paid trial engagement

Scoped, real project work — compensated. We evaluate how you actually work: code quality, communication, and delivery against a deadline.

  • Real work from our backlog: internal tooling, pattern implementations, migration analysis
  • Paid at an agreed rate — never free labor disguised as evaluation
  • Reviewed like production work: code review, documentation, demo of what shipped
04 — Rating

Continuous rating

Vetting doesn't end at admission. Every engagement produces a structured rating — and ratings drive future matching priority.

  • Delivery quality, communication, and reliability rated per engagement
  • Strong ratings compound: better standing, first look at premium engagements
  • Consistently poor reviews mean fewer matches — and removal from the network

The standard

What "AnovaCloud-vetted" means.

It's a maintained standard, not a badge.

A vetted expert has demonstrated — on real work, in front of practitioners — that they can design, build, and deliver in their domain, communicate clearly, and be trusted inside a client's team. The label is re-earned on every engagement through continuous ratings.

For clients, it means the shortlist you meet has already survived technical scrutiny and a paid working trial. Your interview is the final confirmation, not the first filter.

For engineers, it means the label is worth carrying: it was earned against a published bar, and it compounds with every engagement you deliver.

Engagement models

How vetted experts engage.

Three models, matched to what the client actually needs. Every engagement is scoped by an architect before an expert is introduced.

Dedicated

Embedded team member

A vetted engineer joins the client's team full-time for the engagement — standups, code review, on-call rotation, the works. Best for roadmap delivery.

Typical: multi-month · dedicated capacity

Squad

Project team

A small pod of vetted engineers — e.g., two data engineers and an architect — owns a bounded outcome like a migration wave or a platform rebuild.

Typical: fixed scope · architect-led

Fractional

Part-time seniority

A vetted architect a few days a week: design reviews, technical direction, unblocking teams that need judgment more than headcount.

Typical: senior+ · part-time

Roles

Roles we staff. No names, no photos — roles.

We describe the roles we vet for, not the people. You'll meet the actual shortlisted engineers — with their real backgrounds — when a match is made.

Data

Senior Data Engineers (Databricks / Spark)

Lakehouse pipelines with contracts, tests, and lineage — engineers who treat data quality as a feature, not a phase.

AI

AI Engineers (LLM applications, RAG)

Retrieval-grounded systems and agent workflows with eval harnesses — engineers who know the difference between a demo and a deployment.

Cloud

Cloud Platform Engineers (AWS)

Landing zones, IaC, and platform paved roads — engineers who've carried the pager and design like it.

DB

Database Engineers (PostgreSQL, migrations)

PostgreSQL internals, performance tuning, and migration execution — the people you want near a cutover weekend.

Arch

Solution Architects (data / AI)

Blueprint-first architects who whiteboard the system and then help ship it — fractional or dedicated.

Questions

Vetting, answered plainly.

It means the engineer cleared all four stages: profile screening, a deep technical interview with a practicing architect, a paid trial engagement on real work, and — once delivering — continuous ratings on every engagement. A maintained standard, not a one-time badge.
Yes. Trials are scoped, real project work and are compensated at an agreed rate. We don't use unpaid take-home projects or free labor as a filter.
Yes. Continuous ratings feed back into matching priority. Consistently poor delivery reviews lead to fewer matches and removal from the network.
Yes. We shortlist vetted members for each need, and the client team meets them before anything is finalized. Our vetting narrows the field; the client makes the final call.
